Blogger of the year? Not quite.

October 13, 2010

Hiatus might be an understatement for what I’ve been lately!

I’m still alive and kickin’, I promise!

I have to say, life has been HECTIC (actually, hectic might be an understatement but that’s the only word I can come up with right now!). School is absolutely nuts. I’m knee deep in meetings, homework, presentations, events, sorority stuff…. the list goes on and on and on and on and on…… okay, you get the point.

So, the question is… what have I been up to since my last post?

(1) I ran my first two races…. EVER! Oh. My. God. Can someone please tell me why I didn’t get into racing earlier?! I’m addicted! They were both 5K’s and I actually won my age division in both! Crazy, right? They were fairly small but still, that’s kind of impressive. I’ve been really pleased with my times and have realized that the racing format really pushes me to my limit. 🙂 Ahh. I love it! I WILL be running more soon! Annnnnd…. I’m thinking about training for a half marathon…. 😉

(2) Speaking of running, I gained a running partner! Thank. You. God. I’ve been looking for someone to run with for… well… ever and I finally found one. 🙂 Actually, he approached ME about running which was cool (yes, I said HE!). For privacy reasons, I won’t reveal his name but we went running twice last week and it was awesome! He has a faster pace and I have more endurance so we really balance each other out well. Let’s hope this is a long term thing!

(3) Two words–JASON. MRAZ. I went to Charleston, WV on September 20th to watch him live and there are literally no words to describe the concert. I’m not ashamed at all to admit that I was squealing like a little girl the entire time. No shame in my game. 😉 Oh we were so close he touched my hand. Twice. And to answer the next most obvious question—no I haven’t washed them yet. 😉 I kid, I kid… sort of. 😀

(4) I was elected to my college’s homecoming court! I didn’t win queen but just the fact that I was nominated was really cool! It was definitely a surprise / honor! Oh and can I say my escort was amazing? He totally rocked Gaga glasses! LOVE IT! And I wore my Tom’s. I was going to go for the typical high heel but realized… that isn’t me. At all. So, why not rock Tom’s and support a good cause? Exactly. 🙂

(5) Homecoming in general was…. CRAZY. Lots of old friends, new friends, pepper spray, and beer. Wait.. did I say pepper spray?! To make a long story short, we have a homecoming dance that gets WILD every year. Well, this year, someone grabbed a cop’s can of pepper spray out on the dance floor and sprayed it… everywhere. FORTUNATELY I wasn’t out there. UNFORTUNATELY I was in the bar… drinking. YIIIKES. 😀 And very soon after I (along with everyone else) was told to leave because the dance was OVER. Lame. But not to worry my friends, I came back to my apartment complex to see around 30 people partying outside. Wild I tell ya… WILD!

(6) FALL BREAK!! My college is ohhhhh so kind to give us a week long break and you better believe I’ve been taking advantage of it! I’ve caught up on all of the sleep I’ve missed… and more. And not to mention I’ve done a lot of de-stressing! I can honestly say I’ve needed this break more than any other in my entire life. Yikes. You know what else I’ve done?! PT OBSERVATION HOURS! I’m still about 40 away from what I need but I’m making progress. 🙂

(7) Speaking of Physical Therapy, I’m currently kind of freaking out over the fact that all of the applications are due… soon. Like, really soon. OHHHMYGOD. And I’m no where near prepared!!! Be ready to see a LOT on this topic over the next few months! So far the list is boiling down to UK, WVU, & Western Carolina. But in all reality, UK is the only place I really, REALLY want to go. Perhaps I should prepare now for heartbreak?!

So, there you have it. My life in a nutshell over the past month or so. Not too exciting… but be prepared for lots of fun things in the near future! Halloween, “hell” week, board meetings, running “dates”, mixers, parties, PT school application craziness…. you name it, I’m doing it.

PS—If you’ve got 7 minutes to spare, watch this video. It’s worth it, I promise. And visit when you’re done.
